Marketing Tips

Zack Danger Brown is a genius.

Or just a lucky son of a gun.kickstarter

What started out as a joke taught us all a lesson on how to be a savvy marketer.

This guy Zack shows up on Kickstarter, asking for $10.00 so he can make potato salad and ends up receiving $55,492.00 from 6,911 backers.

Perhaps he was able to afford “Yukon Gold” potatoes and maybe some chicken to BBQ.

Another example of how little we value our hard earned dollar is this guy who figured out how to score a free meal from strangers.

“Graphing the deliciousness of a chicken burrito!” by Noboru Bitoy was fully funded on March 4, 2014.  With a goal of $8.00 he received 258 backers donating a total of $1,050.00 to find out how yummy a Chipotle Burrito is.

Many people turn to the generosity of others looking for start up capital on their projects.  While many worthwhile projects never get funded.

Crowd funding has it’s perks.  When backing a project most developers send you the product.

Of course, I’m not sure I would want to receive potato salad in my mail box.   (Fed-ex maybe!?)

Kickstarter has crossed the $1 billion mark in 2014.  On March 13, 2013 the company had it’s best day ever with more than $4 million pledged in 24 hours.

I think I’ll request funding to buy my 4 dogs each a bone for Christmas!
